Postby sheana01 » 28 May 2013, 19:33

I need help researching my Broggi Family. I am trying to find information on an Angelo Broggi who was born July 24, 1865 in Lombardy Italy. His fathers name was Antonio and mother Amalia. He married a Josephine Stella she was born abt. 1873. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HI and welcome! :D
Yes Broggi is a Lombard surname mostly found in Varese and Como area Problem is there are too many Broggi families here and Angelo was a very popular given name at the time of his birth.
Do you have some more info you can share with us ? For exemple did he emigrate (and when) or did he stay in Italy?

Angelo Broggi immigrated to NY in 1985. He lived in Barre Vermont, then NY where he died in 1918. I believe he had two brothers Michael and Enrico. Both of his brothers immigrated to NY also.

Ciao
There is one Angelo Broggi arriving at Ellis Island in 1895 The ship manifest states he was from Bisuschio, a village in Valceresio Valley, near Varese

Many emigrants from Varese area, mostly stonecutters, (scalpellini) went to Barre Vermont.

There is also a database online, but only for those born in Viggiù, a bigger village near Bisuschio. Sorry, no Angelo Broggi in this database, but the site has a lot of info

Thank you for your help I am sure that is probably him and I did find a directory of him in Barre Vermont. I wrote a misprint on the date he immigrated in 1895 not 1985.
