Finding a local Genealogy Researcher in Sicily

Postby rp76226 » 30 May 2013, 05:21

The Church of the Annunziata (Parrocchia MARIA SS. ANNUNZIATA)on corso GARIBALDI - RACALMUTO, 92020 (AG)has wonderful records in hard cover books by year and also range of years (in Latin). These have indexes by name (though sometimes by first name). I only had 30 minutes to spare three weeks ago when I was there and found another generation of my family through a marriage record. I know that if I had a few hours, that I could have found much more. How do I find a local person to look up records for me in the comune of Racalmuto, Agrigento, Sicilia at this church? I would want a copy of each pertinent record (I took digital photos without flash and they worked great)plus a complete translation of each record.

Make sure you choose someone close to the location or you are going to be paying mileage and maybe even overnight stays.
You also want someone with a good command of English who can 'interpret' the record, not just translate it.
I'm sure you will gets lots of offers. Ask for references.
