In doing research on my ancestors, I've discovered that two ancestors were notaries in the province of Salerno in Campania. They were Erberto Calzaretta, notary from the 1750s to 1806 in Oliveto Citra and Antonio Cantalupo, who was active in the early 1800s in Campagna.
I'm aware that the notarial acts that they produced are all preserved in the State Archives in Salerno.
Would there be any records relating to their becoming qualified to be notaries?
Is there a description anywhere of the requirements that someone had to meet in order to become a notary in the 1750 - 1850 time period?
