Digitalized Italian Records for any town

Postby rp76226 » 20 Jun 2013, 18:09

I am aware of the digitalized Italian records on ancestry.com and the Family History Center. some of the records are restricted like the province of Bari in the Family history Center where you can't see them at home and you can't print them. Yet one of you gave me a website where the same information was available at home and printable. Here's the site which seems to be a civil Italian origin website - http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... o+di+Bari/
It has a lot more information and years than you can find elsewhere at other websites for Bari.

What I'd like to know - are there similar sites for other Italian towns or provinces. If yes, how do I find them? Particular towns I am interested in include Racalmuto, Cerda, Petralia Soprano, Corleone, Bagheria, Polizzi Generosa, and others.

That seems to be a family search site, just organized differently, but exactly the same records as I've found on there before.

I was interested in the Bari records, also. I checked last night and found image unavailable. I am wondering if they just dont have them up yet. It seems odd to me that they would put these links up if they didnt intend to add them.

I say this because, I had been interested in the town of Rionero, Potenza. I read here, that some records were available, about a month ago. I looked and couldnt use those records, because I needed what came before. There were NO links for that. Tuesday night, I visited the site again and they now have the records 1861-1920s.

Dont give up on those Bari records. Keep checking.

The Bari records from the Family History website can only be viewed at a Family History Center and can't be printed there unless they allow you to do screen prints. It's a restriction imposed by whoever they purchased the records from. However, the same Bari records can be viewed and printed at home using a different website - http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... o+di+Bari/

RP, I believe I went to that site last night and they had no images avaiable for bari. I clicked the area of the map and thats what came up. I tried again just now, using your link but the site seems to be down.

I am curious to know if they have rionero in vulture, potenza. Family search has them but they begin at 1861 and I would like to view records before that. I know they have those films at the FHL, but its so convenient to do this work from home.

Eleven, I just clicked on it and it's all there. Click on the blue links to see the communes listed, then click on the commune you want. Remember, it is just a site for the comunes within the province of Bari.
