CZESURZU MACARI (Crescenzo I think!)

Many thanks,

Steff

Hello Steff :-)

Found this Passenger List for August 1894, but they are crossed out... They may not have sailed on this date

This destination is PHILADELPHIA...(ticket #26453 for Rocco, Emilia and Czescenzu/Crescenzo) Maybe they were able to secure a crossing for NYC instead? Same ship :-)

Hello Tessa!

Thank you so much for this! I've never seen this before. We actually have to idea if they actually DID ever go to America or not as I've not been able to find any proof. Based on this and the fact their names are scored out on the passenger manifest, do you think that they perhaps never made this journey?

Rocco eventually went to Australia, Crescenzo settled in Scotland before returning to Italy and no one has any clue what happened to Emilia.

Many many thanks,

Steff

Hello Steff! :-D

Glad to have helped. It IS possible that they never made the journey...
However, there is no "proof" either way...

Can you tell me what comune/town in Italy they were from?

And where in Scotland did Crescenzo settle?

FYI... found this information about an Emilia Macari - do not know if there is a connection...

I can't thank you enough for your help so far Tessa!

My GGF was Luigi Macari born 1888 in Casalattico, Frosione. His brothers and sisters were Rocco born 1869 - 1950 (died Australia) - The Amelia you found and have mentioned above is his daughter!, Emilia born 1879, Giuseppe born 1865 and Crescenzo born 1862 - 1950 (died in Casalattico).

Crescenzo had two sons Pietro and Antonio who he brought up in the Lochgelly area of Fife, Scotland. Antonio moved to Newcastle and had family there.

Can't wait to see what you can dig up! If you need anymore information just let me know.

Kindest regards,

Steff

Just wanted to add that the record you've found for an Emilia Macari in Belfast in 1894 could possibly be linked, as 1894 was the same year we know the family were in the UK and booked/due to depart from Liverpool to Philidelphia. Emilia would have roughly been 16 yrs at this time.

Rocco married his wife Giocontina nee Coia in Glasgow in 1894. As far as I've been able to find, they departed from London in 1913 to head down under on a ship named Waimana. From the records it seems 'R Macari' left two years before the rest of his family, departing 1911.

Hi Tessa!

Thank you. Yes this tree is owned by my second cousin Ronald Macari! We're in touch with each other but no one in our large family has been able to track down the details of what happened to Emilia. Ah well, the search goes on!

:)
