Looking for family in Italy - Caserta- (Mazzuro?Mazzaro?

Postby miccap26 » 16 Jul 2013, 16:11

My great grandfather's name was either Mazzuro, Massaro, Massuro, first name Ferdinando. His mother was Angiola Fevola and his father's name was Alessandro. He was born 1879 and came to US in 1891 . I want to know is correct spelling of last name and family in Italy. He was from Caserta.

Are you sure he was from the town of Caserta, or was he from the Province of Caserta? And about year of birth?

Here are images of civil acts for the town of Caserta:

I looked at birth indexes (within registers of births) for years 1878 and 1879 (they are about images #745 and 1200 respectively) and could not find a Ferdinando under letter "M". I found no index for 1880.

Here are images for most of the Communes in the province:

That is my great grandfather ! My aunt and I are seeking his correct name spelling and would love to connect with family in Italy, his immigration papers say that he was from Sancrevalio but I cannot find a town named that in Italy.
Thank you so much for your help, I have been trying so long to find our family there.
Michele

he came to Ellis Island in 1897 I think with his brother Rafaello. His brother eventually went back to Italy and his Uncle lived in New York for several years then supposedly moved to South America. I hope to find my grandfather's family in Italy, I am grateful for any help.
