Suor Rosina la Grua of Castelbuono

Post by siskojnash »

I am looking for any information about Sister Rosina la Grua of Castelbuono and any family. I know there are books written about her life by Salvino Leone, who is her nephew. She was born in Castelbuono on July 13, 1895 and died there on August 12, 1989. I know she had at least two different illnesses, which confined her to bed for most of her life. I could really love to get english copies of any books about her. I came across part of one at this site: http://www.preghiereagesuemaria.it/sant ... 20grua.htm . I would love to see more things. I used the google translate function to view it in english, although the translation seems rather funny, such as saying "he" instead of "she" and having a few phrases that sound a little weird in english.
I've gotten all my info about the family from this page. The father's name was Mastro Antonio. I think Mastro was a title. I assume La Grua must be the last name for the family. His wife was Nicoletta Cusimano. There were five children. Rosina was the youngest, I think. There were 3 sons, brothers of Rosina. They are listed as Nzulo, which sounds like a possible bad translation, Santo, and Joachim, who is said to have died very young. I don't know who the fifth child was.
Salvino Leone believes that his great-grandmother, Nicoletta, married nobility. I really wish I had some dates for her to start a search. Nicoletta would have been the mother of one of Sister Rosina's parents. I would imagine that part of the family would have been from Castelbuono also. Is there any way to find out anything about this? Thank you very much.

Thank you again. Do you happen to know if nobility is any easier to find than a normal person? I wouldn't think so. One of Suor Rosina's grandmothers is thought to have married nobility. It would be nice to find out whether or not it's actually true. I know a couple of people who would be very interested to find out for sure.

On the death record above for Rosa LaGrua, is there any other information in the death record? What does that one say?
