How to Move Forward

Postby ForzaItaliaPgh » 28 Aug 2013, 21:50

Ciao tutti,

I'm stuck. I've gotten as far as my G-GF birth cert, which gives me the name of my GG-GF (but I can't find his birth cert). I also what I think is the name of my GGG-GF from a baptismal record of my G-GF's brother. But that is as far as I seem to be able to go. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get back a little farther? So far I have:

G-GF - Dino Paolo Giovanni Barontini b. 8 Aug 1897 in Lucca
GG-GF - Leopoldo Barontini b. unknown date probably in Pistoia
GGG-GF - Antonio Barontini b. unknown date probably in Pistoia

I think the family was in Pistoia because my G-GF's brother was Giovanni Gino-Fortunato Barontini and his baptismal record lists him as "figlio di Leopoldo di Antonio Barontini di Vicofaro (Pistoia). My G-GF's baptismal records simply lists the family as being from this parish.

Any suggestions on finding Italian docs (short of traveling to Italy) would be appreciated.

Grazie mille.

On Dino birth record it says Leopoldo resided in San Concordio Contrada a frazione of Lucca
What was Dino's wifes name?

Hi again Marty,

I can make out most of the document, but I cannot figure out what the two words following Leopoldo's age mean. It says he is the son of Antonio, he's 37, (something handwritten I can't read), then that he lives in San Concordio. Perhaps your Italian is better than mine? Can you make that out? I believe it is his occupation, but what it could be I couldn't say.
