Sanbastiani/Bastiani/Sebastiani/Gianola families in Parma

Postby timhughes86 » 09 Sep 2013, 16:45

I'm looking for more information about the Sanbastiani family in Parma. I'm a Bastiani on my mother's side, and the name mutated from the original Sanbastiani on arrival in England circa 1820. The alternate spelling Sebastiani may also have been used.

The first Sanbastiani to arrive in England was a Sebastian Sanbastiani who worked in London as a plaster sculptor. From the limited information we have, Sebastian was the son of a Josef (Guiseppe?) Sanbastiani and Raffaelina (Raffaella?) Sanbastiani (maiden name Gianola). The family lived in Parma and the father was also a plaster sculptor while the mother was apparently a musician (pianist).

If anyone has any information on any of this, I'd be very grateful to hear from you.

Grazie mille!
