Help tracing roots back to Ustica/Palermo

Postby Bivalacqua » 09 Sep 2013, 23:46

It has been a long time since I have posted in the forum and have answered quite a few question I had since then. Now I have hit another wall and need help once again. To recap, I was tracing back roots and found more info on my G Grandfather than I did his wife. I have answered as many questions about her as I could and now Im back to focusing on him since there is more info. I found this on Ustica.org:

Fara (b. bef 1819, d. bef 1884) m. abt 1839 Michele Cortino

Francesco m. 21-May-1909 Vincenza Terrano

Giuseppe (b. bef 1834) m. abt 1854 Unknown Unknown
Maria (b. abt 1854, d. 27-Dec-1855 Ustica)

Ignazio m. abt 1832 Rosa Vitale
Michelangelo (b. bef 1832 Palermo, d. bet 1853 and 1886) m. 06-Jan-1853 Ustica Maria Palmisano
Rosalia (b. 27-Jan-1852 Ustica)
Maria (b. 19-Jul-1854 Ustica)
Ignazio (b. abt 1856 Ustica) m. 01-Jun-1886 Ustica Grazia Gambino
Salvatore (b. 09-Apr-1888 Ustica)

Leonard (b. abt 1888 Montevago, Italy, d. 14-Feb-1962 Jefferson Parish, LA) m. abt 1912 Maria Concetta Bertucci
Daughter1 m. Joseph O'Sullivan
Daughter2 m. Samuel B Parker

Sara (b. bef 1791, d. bef 1888) m. abt 1811 Lorenzo Contino

and have confirmed that it is very very likely it is him. The only thing Im stuck on now is the fact that my G Aunt has told me he has a sister than immigrated to New York. She remembers his going to visit her. Her last name isnt going to be spelled like ours bc ours was changed when my G Grandfather arrived in New Orleans. Hers would likely be Bevilacqua as ours is Bivalacqua. My G Aunt told me that her dad came from Ustica but I found his war documents that says his birthplace is Palermo. Just wondering if there is a way to find out about his sisters and any other siblings if any as well as finding out more about his birthplace and more. Thanks in advance!

I have found something that may be helpful to me however Im a bit confused. I found on ancestry and entry that has a Michele Vivalacqua born in New Orleans to a Ignazio Vivalacqua and a Grazia Gambino. Im guess this would be Sal (my G Grandfather) sister. However I can not find ANY other info on Michele or Ignazio other than this. My G Aunt said he had a sister that moved to New York but I cant find any more records on her. Any help will be greatly appreciated
