I'm looking for any info about Antonio Belotto, born in the province of Treviso in 1869 son of Antonio Belotto and Luigia Scarabel. I don't know the comune.

Hello!

There's lots of great help here at this forum... but you need to provide more info...

Info you provided about his parents is a good start, but we need more..

Did he immigrate to the USA...? If so maybe a ship record, census or other document could be found.

Where did he settle in the USA...?

Who was his wife... if you know her maiden name and info, please mention.

If he traveled with children, please mention...

Also, if he had siblings please mention...

Providing info like this will help those willing to help..

The surname Scarabel... could it just be Scarabel or Scarabella, or Scarabelli, Scarabello...?

Well, unfortunately I really have no further data about my ancestor. But I know that he had inmigrated to Brazil where he got married my grand- grandmother Angela Saluti on 1898.

I have no birth certificate from Italy which could help in finding the roots of my ancestor Antonio Belotto. The only data I have, based on my own family experience is that he came from the province of Treviso, he had the same name of his father and his mother called Luigia Scarabel.

My grandfather Giuseppe (4th son of ANtonio Belotto) was born there (in Brazil) on 1910 as well as my father, Jose on 1931.
I am a spanish citizen living in Vitoria, Basque Country - Spain.

I hope having any info that would lead me to know where is my roots.

Thanks in advance!

Hi: the exact italian spelling is BELLOTTO; Scarabel is just, not most diffused.. currently in all Treviso province are only 37 families ... regards, suanj

Hi suanj!

Thanks for your note.

Yes, double T is more common there but my ancestor had signed of his own name with single T when he had to register his first son in 1899 in Brazil. I saw the register book in the office.

I was in Italy 2 years ago searching in churches and cementeries. It was a hard job and I had no success. By the way, I found a lot of Bellotto's, some Belotto's, few Belloto's but no Beloto!
I intend to come back next year to continue with the research.

How did you get the info about the Scarabel family?

Thank you very much.

Hi Samacadu:
I think that for you.. is better that you write all Scarabel living in Treviso province, otherwise you not find ... this your search don't had good step... I think, really, that from contact in italian language by normal letter, with Scarabel people, you can find also the just Bellotto ... also you can write in Archivio di stato di treviso for an search in LISTE DI LEVA (militar service) about Luigi... but this folder in Archive are most incomplete and not sure that they find it.. regards, suanj

Happy easter to you too!

Thank you for the indication.
I will try to post the letters as soon as possible.

Anyway, do you have any information about how effective is this procedure?
Do they use to reply such letters?

Thanks a lot!

This procedure is effective for all italian archivies, and in particular for Treviso Archive too, but only if they find... why many documents was destroyed from wars, and I know sure that are the LISTE di leva/militar service, but I klnow not if are Liste di leva for italian males borns in 1869 in Treviso province.

Regards, suanj
