Witnesses

I am assuming if a person's name is on a matri record, followed with Testimonio they are usually just witnesses, correct?

Witnesses on matrimoni acts could be either a civil clerk or a family member one way of checking is look at the other records on the page and check the witnesses names if they are the same
My family in Trabia has the same witnesses for a 10 year period on their birth acts

oh no, my relative only appeared one time. There is a man that shows up all the time just figured that was the mayor or something. My ancestor born 1809 and died 1910 on a record dated 18 say 1867 he appeared with the word testimony after his name and he spelled it vs writing so I figure maybe he is just a witness which means there is most likely nothing on the document that would tell me anything about him except it was a small town.
