Postby lsanders159 » 17 Oct 2013, 14:37

Looking for information on the Cifone family San Mauro Forte, Matera, Basilicata, Italy. Micheal Giovanni Cifone I think was born around 1852 married Maria, Mary or Margaret Cervo.

They had Pietro "peter" Cifone born about 1872 died about 1930 he had gone to united states and returned to Italy. He married Maria Armento ( I think this is how you spell it it was hard to read the imagration record. She may have had a brother Vincenzo Armento who came to the united states with Pietro "peter" Cifone in 1910 in New York.

Salvatore Cifone Birth 21 Jan 1875 in San Mauro Forte, Matera, Basilicata, Italy Came to the us in about 1895. He lived in Conn. and died there 30 Oct 1954.

Mauro "Morris" Cifone Birth 13 Dec 1880 in San Mauro Forte, Matera, Basilicate, Italy. Came to America about 1903. Settled in PA married Irena Rizzo.

Lucia "lucy" Cifone Birth about 1885 in San Mauro Forte, Matera, Basilicata, Italy . Came to united states and married a DiMartino

Francisco cifone Birth 1 or 2 Nov 1887 in San Mauro Forte, Matera, Basilicata, Italy He came to america in about 1909. His wife Maria Mazza Birth abt 1889 from the same area her mother was Margheute and came over with a some Micheal Cifone born Oct 5 1909 and died May 6 1911 in Philadelpha, PA.

Enard Loscalzo is reported to be cousin to Mauro,Frank,Morris, Lucy and Salvatore. He may be from the same area.
I also am looking for how the Cifone name may have changed or where they may have migrated from.

I tried looking in Ancestry Italian records but do not read or speak Italian.

Thank you for any assistance
