Attempting to translate a last name. Need some help please!

Postby Josie07M11 » 31 Oct 2013, 08:23

I got a record off a microfilm and was only able to take some hazy photos that probably won't help much with translations, but I managed to get most of what I need except the last name of my ancestor's mother. I can read that her first name was Vita but not was her last name was. Can anyone help? This is the death record for Luciano Mangani, whose father was Mariano. Thanks!

It looks Savasta to me.
You can check in www.paginebianche.it if this surname still exists in town.

Upon looking at it closer I think I need help translating the communes in which Luciano was born and where his parents came from. I thought that it meant he was born in the commune where he died but that is Chiaramonte Gulfi and it doesn't look like that's what's written. Any help would be amazing. Thank you.

Here's two edited versions that are much easier to read:

PHOTO RETOUCHED 2: http://postimg.org/image/lgy9igi5j/

I hope this helps! (I would gladly translate but I have bad vision so even with the retouches, it's too blurry for me. I'm sorry!) :D

Thanks! After his parents names I think it says "Domiciliate in questo comune Cortile di(or S.) Francesco."

Does this mean his parents were from Chiaramonte Gulfi from the church of San Francesco? There's no Comune called Cortile di (or S.) Francesco.

"cortile" can be defined as a square, courtyard, quadrangle, yard, etc.
I believe that they lived in the town at a place(home) at Cortile S. Francesco :D
