My wife's father's side of the family was from Villalago, L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy. Her Grandfather was Salvatore Galante born 20-May-1886 and he immigrated to the U.S. in 1912. Salvatore was married to Giovanna Grossi also from Villalago. Giovanna immigrated in 1913. After immigrating they settled in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Can anyone provide any further information about these particular individuals?
Salvatore's 1912 manifest Last residence and place of birth Villalago, province L'Aquila, region Abruzzo Destination: Pittsburgh to join brother Antonio Leaves wife Giovanni Grossi in Italy Previously in US: 1907-1911
Did you notice that Giovanna had a child of 4 months traveling with her? Hard to read the first name (surname is Galanti.) On Salvatore's Pennsylvania Naturalization record, it would appear to be Mary, born in December 1912 in Italy...

Thank you both of you for the information. Just a quick note about the oldest child of Salvatore and Giovanna. Maria (Mary) Galante married Gino Prozzi in the United States and they lived in Coropolis Island near Pittsburgh all her life. Salvatore and Giovanna had the following children: Maria (Mary) Galante-Prozzi, Rosina (Rose)born 1917 in Pittsburgh and married Joseph Bundick, Giuseppe (Joe) Galante born 1919 in Pittsburgh and married Mary Grace Ford they moved to California where my wife Mary Genevieve Galante was born. Ettorina (Florence) Galante born 1921 in Pittsburgh and lastly Salvatore Jr. (Sam) Galante.
Thank you Biff and Tessa. I am in possession of these documents and I did provide a posting giving some of the details I have pertaining to Salvatore and Giovanna. In the mean time Maria (Mary) the 4 month old child was Salvatore and Giovanna's oldest and only child born in Italy all the rest were born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Mary married Gino Prozzi. The "Destination: Pittsburgh to join brother Antonio" is something I did not catch. I'll follow that up!
