Can someone interpret the writing in the left column under index and name.
I understand there can be interesting info in this area most of the time its empty but they wrote this time.
I can make out the actual Birth Record.

thanks,

ray

First notation corrects the mother's surname to Lo Grasso (from Grasso)

Second notation is for his marriage on 14 September 1901 to Rosaria Dentico

How does that work. The document states GRASSO notation in left you said changes it from GRASSO to LO Grasso. I would think the document would have to be changed to reflect LO GRASSO.

As for the second notation. what is the notation changing. What document does that change?

The document you posted is a photograph of a page of the book-register where Giuseppe's birth was recorded. The original birth act cannot be corrected, and if there is a mistake this is amended with a notation. Giuseppe's mother's surname was incorrectly written as GRASSO, the notation states that on July 8 1898 the Court recognized that the surname should read LO GRASSO.
If you ask for a birth certificate it will state that Giuseppe Mulè was the son of Fortunata Lo Grasso

The second notation does not modify any document, it just informs that Giuseppe married Rosaria on Sep 14 1901.

Sometime you may also find a notation informing about he death...
