Searching for Percoco, Masci, DelBono from Terracina Italy

Postby sailpamc » 12 Apr 2005, 02:11

I am researching Percoco, Masci and DelBono from Terracina. My
grandmother Emilia Masci (mother's maiden name Maria DelBono, Father
Silviano) and grandfather Ubaldo Percoco (mother Esther Masci, father
Archangelo) came to the US via Ellis Island in 1920 on the Rochambeau
from Le Havre France. They settled in Massachusetts. If anyone has
any info I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Pam Costa

Are you looking for census record information, or for more ship records?

Is there a particular person you need more information on...

Not sure where to zero in... you could get all kinds of info here from members at this forum... just need further direction...

I have all of the birth, death, marraige certificates from my grandparents as well as their Ellis Island arrival and naturalization papers. I know my grandmother has a brother living in Somerville, MA. I am trying to find more information on my grandparents families that stayed in Terracina. I am pretty sure that they both had siblings in Italy, but they never wanted any of the kids or grandkids (me) to know who they were or to contact them. Seems like they were afraid that the relatives would want to come to the states if anyone got in touch with them.
Thanks

Your best bet... is researching from a Family History Center... (looks like you have already done your American research...)

film is from 1910 to 1871... wonder why it doesn't go further??

Italy, Latina, Terracina - Civil registration

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... umns=*,0,0

for a Familiy History Center near you...

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

If your ancestors travelled to USA, records could be found... but since you are looking for "paesanos" in Italy... the FHC film would help you better...

It is frustrating... when family won't talk...

Seems like they were afraid that the relatives would want to come to the states if anyone got in touch with them

not only come to the states... but to come in to live with them... many of the homes were crowded... very crowded...

Looks like there is more than one Terracina!

One near Rome... and one in Sicily...

If they sailed from Havre, Terracina near Rome would probably be the
correct town.

To see the name distribution in Italy, click on this link, type surname in
cognome and click on red arrow:

http://www.gens.labo.net/

Not to many DelBono, alot of Masci, especially near Rome, and Percoco is also widespread, but with more presence near Rome.

Please be more specific in your request for info......exactly what type of info are you seeking? Once US research has been completed, the next step is researching Italian records.

If you have birthdates, parents names.......you can write to the town of origin for a "stato di famiglia originario"....this record documents all members of the family, including those who moved away or died.....this can be requested of the ufficio di stato civile in the town of origin.

did you consult the available microfilm thru the Lds? This is really the easiest way to proceed......

Thanks wldspirit, I haven't checked that yet. I'm still new at this as I don't have a lot of time to spend on research due to my job, but that is changing soon. Thanks again.

My grandparents came from Terracina. My grandfather's name was Gustavo Masci (born in 1885). His parents were Raffaele Masci and Concetta Percoco. I know my granfather and his brothers came to America via Boston. My grandfather arrived about 1908. He moved to New York, and the brothers settled in Boston. I don't known if there is any relation to your family, but it is a coincidence that my great grandparents have two of the names you are searching. I hope this helps.

John

John, My grandparents came from Terracina. My grandfather's name was Agostino Masci (born in 1894. His parents also were Raffaele Masci and Concetta Percoco. I believe Agostino had a brother Ralph....Would it be possible to contact you to get some information that you may have?

Thanks,
Anthony Masci
