Hi,
I believe I found the correct death record for my 4x great-grandmother (Maria Colamussi). I know the date of her death was 23 February 1842 and it appears to match the index for that year (link below). Can anyone make out the writing on the actual record? It's very light and hard to read.

Giambattista Damato, husband of the deceased, age 33, peasant/farmer
and Raffaele Colamussi, brother of the deceased, age 40, shepherd
She died on the 23th at 11 of the stated evening. Maria was the wife to Damato, husband. She had been born in Rutigliano, was age 33, and a peasant/farmer living with the husband. She was the daughter of deceased Vito Domenico Colamussi and deceased Domenica Colamussi

Unfortunately, no. This record, like most Italian death records, does not give a cause of death. In my some 20 years of doing this kind of research, I personally have only once come across a death record with a cause of death. That was a record that was sent from Buenos Aires, Argentina back to a town in southern Italy for an ancestor who was born in Italy but died in Argentina.ncolonna wrote:Thanks you Erudita!
