Vincenzo Lorusso worked on railroad? How to research.

Postby EMTLP » 01 Dec 2013, 04:44

Hello,
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

At a recent family gathering my Uncle told me that he recalled a conversation with my great grandfather Vincenzo LoRusso b. 07 JUN 1866 in Avigliano, Basilicata, Italy m. Isabella Maria Nardozza 2 Apr 1892 d.15 SEP 1959 in Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut, USA. It seems my great grandfather spoke about working on the railroad when he first arrived in the United States. To my knowledge Vincenzo came to the US on the S.S. Giuseppe Verdi on 24 Oct 1916 leaving from Naples and arriving in NY with his son FrancesoAntonio. I don't believe their is any mention of his railroad work in his obituary. Does anyone have any idea how I could explore this any further?

Thanks,
Eileen

You might want to check the Railroad Archives Collection at the University of Connecticut :-) He may have worked for the New Haven Railroad...
