Where do I go to find birth and marriage records for this town?

You write directly to the town, in Italian, enclosing an addressed envelope and some photo ID. Civil records for the Province of Salerno were not microfilmed.

If the records you are looking for are earlier than 1865, you can contact the Archivio di Stato di Salerno (National Archives) at this address:
as-sa@beniculturali.it

of course, in Italian too.
I've not had a good experience with the Commune of Nocera.

Thank you. In the past I have written to the town....in English....in Italian....I have enclosed money(check)...never a reply. I had read somewhere that I might be able to find the birth records in Salerno. Grandfather was born in 1876. I am traveling to Sorrento in June....is it better to go to office in Nocera Inferiore to get information?
