Brauné family in Naples - Austrian origin?

Postby peterb1 » 16 May 2014, 16:11

I am hoping to be able to trace my ancestors back far enough to find the source of our surname which is unique in Italy. Right now, I can get back to an Agostino Brauné born in 1835 in Naples. While Braune (without the accent) is a very common surname in Austria and Germany, I am hoping that the accented e will really narrow down possible ancestors.
An aunt who worked on this decades ago had some evidence that an Austrian soldier had been stationed in Capua around the time of Napoleon. Whatever evidence it was went with her passing.

Anyone have any success in making Austrian-Italian connections like this? Any suggestions for a method? I have tried to search the surname with accent in current Austrian directories - no success. One problem is that the é character isn't always recognized in software.

this other document " Absence act", attached at marriage documents, it is abt Agostino father ( Emilio Carlo) and grandfather (Francescantonio) absences and for the absence they cannot give the consent at marriage...
Emilio Carlo abandoned Anna Palumbo just after Agostino birth and no one knew where Emilio Carlo was.... but at this time it is wrote that Emilio is deceased, ditto for Francescantonio...
