"the deceased wife of"

Biff
"To dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands"

defunta translates to deceased so "wife of the deceased" ....Francesco, Vincenzo or whoever

is what I would say.

I'm sure you get the idea now with both Biff and my interpretation :)

In Italian, "moglie la defunta di [husbandname]" is incorrect and has no meaning. The correct sentence may be:

"moglie defunta di [husbandname]" = deceased wife of [husbandname]
or
"moglie del defunto [husbandname]" = wife of the deceased [husbandname]

Edited to add:
I saw a record with the sentence "moglie la defunta di [husbandname]". To be grammatically correct, there are a couple of commas missing and it should read "moglie, la defunta, di [husbandname]" = Wife, the deceased, of [husbandname] = the deceased was the wife of [husbandname]
