Tomasetti's from Nocera, Umbra

Postby Babybugs227 » 28 May 2014, 19:44

Hello, I'm hoping I can get some assistance in finding my GGF's family. My GGF, Angelo Tomasetti was born in March 1876 (immigrated in 1909 to US) and was married to Santina (maiden name Mercanti - immigrated in 1910). I believe Angelo's fathers name was also Angelo, possibly born 1834 (immigrated 1907) and on his ship manifest, he was going to Old Forge, PA to meet with his son, Luigi. My family is from Old Forge, PA and there are lots of Tomasetti's that live there and I know we are all related somehow, but not sure of the actual connection. I was thinking that Luigi is brothers with my GGF Angelo. I was able to locate some of this information on both Ancestry and Ellis Island's websites. There are some other Tomasetti's in the North East Pennsylvania area as well and thought maybe they can be related as well.

Also, I can't seem to find any death records for Angelo (in the USA) so I'm wondering if he traveled back to Italy. Also, I'd really like to find out more about his parents, siblings and further. I know my GGF came from Nocera, Umbra as did the others mentioned here. Hopefully someone can help me along or at least give me some genealogical guidance. :)

Thank you, Lori

Welcome to the forum :-)

The Comune is Nocera Umbra (without a comma) and is located in the Province of Perugia, Umbria Region. :-)

There are very limited records available (free) on the familysearch.org website.
Here is the link...
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/T ... %3D2043831

You can also try (though these are also very limited) the microfilmed civil records held by the LDS.
Here are the catalog numbers and descriptions. You can view them at your nearest Family History Center...
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... %20Library

You might also try writing directly to the Comune of Nocera Umbra to request your GGFs birth record.
Address:
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Via San Rinaldo, 9
06025 Nocera Umbra (PG)
Italy

I'm having difficulty finding any information on my great grandparents. :( I've been going through the documents from the Allegati records but gets exhausting after a while. I tried the search link to find Angelo Tomasetti and Santina Marcanti. I know that the lived in Nocera Umbra but nothing shows up. I've even tried for alternate spellings; Tomassetti, Tommasetti and Tommassetti as I believe my grandmother told me the dropped an extra letter when they immigrated. Anyone have any other suggestions as I'm getting very discouraged.
