searching in Sorrento

Postby reokjr1 » 01 Aug 2014, 04:13

I am looking for records from the 1800s in Sorrento. Is there anything online that anyone knows about? Is there an Archive in Sorrento that allows you to search the civil records?

Thanks reok

The only records on microfilm for Sorrento are after 1900.
I believe the civil records before that are held in the Comune. Some towns let you search, others don't. The Archives vary in their rules depending on where the actual records are kept. Many Archives will only permit the researcher 4 items at one time and some places only twice a day. Very difficult for genealogical research. Parish records might be easier to access.
