Santamassino and Jannuzzi

Postby MizVee430 » 01 Aug 2014, 18:18

Hello! I am using Ancestry.com to research my mother's family. Her father was Antonio Santamassino. I found his WWI records which indicate that he was from Miglionico, Potenza (name was spelled Santomissina). I now see that Miglionico is now part of Matera provence. Both are in the Basilicanta region. I am hitting a dead end with finding any other records past his WWI papers.

In addition, her maternal grandfather was Alphonse Iannuzzi which was changed to Jannuzzi and then Jeanette in the 1930s. I can find absolutely nothing past the 1920 census (Harrison, NJ).

Does anyone have any information on these names? Thank you so much!

Valerie

Great finds, Biff :-D !

Did you notice that "Aunt Pasqualina" was in what appears to be LAURENZANA, Potenza?

Ianuzzi/Januzzi/Jeanette

1930 census shows Alphonse's wife Rose as widowed. Since he died between the 1920 and 1930 census, there are no other records for him.

Wonder if the Jennett family 8 lines below Rose in the 1930 US Census is of any relation?

With a first son named Alphonse and a first daughter named Rose, a pretty good bet that's a son and his family. Also there's another Jeanette family living at the same address as the Santomassino's. Frank with a first son named Alphone.

WOW! You have done your homework. Yes, the Jeanettes are all related. Yes, Rosa was a widow by that date. I also see you mentioning all of my great aunts and uncles.

Sorry I am just looking at this -- I was never notified of any responses and was just doing a little more research today.

God bless.

Valerie
