All I know is my grandfathers name is Antonio Cannizzaro and he married my grandma I believe she's from Argentina. I believe he was in the Italian army. And I do know I have ALOT of family in Italy. Thank you for reading and I would love to hear any info you have :D

The best way to start your family genealogy is to buy the book ITALIAN GENEALOGICAL RECORDS BY Trafford R. COLE or borrow same from your library and then go to www.ellisisland.org and review the 14 Antonio Cannizzaro that entered the USA at NYC from Italy as immigrants if this is how the founding member of your family arrived in the USA. Once you know the town of origin of your family then you simply work backwards. We are here to assist you all the way. By making this a collaborative project you will reap the joys of discovering your family line. Peter

He settled in NY with my dad grandma and my dads older brothers. It had to be some time after 1962 . I don't know much about my dad's side  so it's hard to figure out. My father doesn't know much about it because his father never really talked about it.

Arzona is a "frazione" an absorbed hamlet or outlying village by the town , Comune Filandri, which has all the records pertaining to your family from that suburb Arzona. If you want to research your family then go to www.tuttitalia.it/calabria/41-filandri and there is a picture of the town if you clickon the www.comune below the municipio address. Peter

There is no website in English for Filandri....This is why I informed you to obtain the genealogy Book so that you could know what you want and help us get it for you by directing you to the appropriate websites, addresses and form letters. There is one Cannizzaro, Antonia by name who has a telephone in Arzona and can be reached if you go to http://www.pagine bianche.it and put in CANNIZZARO on the left side and FILANDRI on the right side and click on the right "cerca" Peter

Thank you very much.I seldom use the provincial initials except when there are more than 1 comune with the same name to distinguish one from the other and there appears to be only one Comune with that name so why is it necessary to use the provincial initials? Peter

Oh, no! It is not necessary! But I usually specify the province for users who don't have knowledge of Italy, to protect from typos or misspellings, and to distinguish from other locations with the same name, that are not Communes. In the case of Filandari, there seem to be no other place with the same or similar name, but for Arzona (that I had never heard before), there might be Arzene (PN), Arzana (OG) and Arzano (NA). In fact, at first I thought Lcannizz327 had miswritten the name of the place, but then I realized that Cannizzaro is more typical of Calabria than Sardinia or Campania, so, it could be right.
