Hello, the town is PIANO DI SORRENTO,
and this is the email of comune

info@pianodisorrento.net

where to ask for civil records

There are not Cheroti at all in Italy, but Cerruti in Napoli area

hi, Cerruti is tipical of Italy north, no south ... if you write some other detail, as first name is better for help you.. also are various Piano or Piana in Campania province, all hamleth, with exception of Piano di Sorrento near Napoli and Salerno.... the surname spelling could be CERRATO very common in this area... also are alternate spelling CERRUTO.

I am sure that it is the town piano di sorrento, I have to ask my uncle about his grandparents and what were their names because it has my grandparents death records but goes nothing beyond that about any of their parents. I just want to know why it changed from Cerruti to what it is know.

Locating a manifest may help to clarify the last name and provide more info......when was Peter born? Spouse's name? Children born here or US?
Did they always live in Chicago? ( I was born there!!! :P ) Do you know when they immigrated?

I see there are two post for this search........so we will use the other, ok?
less confusing for posters and researchers who are following this topic.
