Mary Strazzabosco Nardin

Post by vsimpson1066 »

My 2nd Great Grandmother was Mary Nardin (Nee Strazzabosco) born in Asiago Italy in 1857, and died in Staunton, IL in 1934. I THINK she emigrated 4 Oct 1920 on ship 'France' from Le Havre to New York. It is listed as Anna Maria Strazzabosco. BUT, the record may not be her, as she would have already been married and been a Nardin at this point.
I am looking for any records for her and husband (I do not know first name) and children. One child is Angelina Nardin (married Barra in US, I think she married a Pagagini in Italy, having one daughter Rena.) Anything that can be found for this family is greatly appreciated, Ancestry hasnt been much help.

Italian women maintain their own surname, and so Anna Maria would have traveled under the surname Strazzabosco. :-)

I believe the manifest you referenced above is your 2nd GGM...
On the manifest it indicates that she is age 63, and a widow.
She leaves her home in Asiago, and is traveling to her son Pietri Nardini in Illinois. :-)
(at 835 E. Mill St., Stanton, IL)

Could the trip in October 1920, be a return from Italy after the death of her husband?
Looks like this possibly may be his death record in Illinois from April of that year (1920)
This record gives his first name (Giovachino) and the names of his parents (probably Luigi Nardini, and Gesualda Nizzi)

It is not him :( I Goodles him, and it brought up his wife as Maria Ori, not Strazzabosco. His children were Ersilia, Rosina, Luigi, and Dominic, not Angelina and Pietro. Oh how I wanted it to be right!!

Hi, glad to help..
the records are on line ( Vicenza -Archive of State)
abt Giovanni Nardin .. for to know more, I believe that the main way is to search by LDS microfilms abt Asiago civil records:

Registri dello stato civile di Asiago (Vicenza), 1806-1815, 1872-1889
Births, marriages, banns, deaths, supplemental marriage documents.
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... %20Library
in marriage registries, I believe that you will find the marriage record abt Giovanni Nardin and Anna Maria Strazzabosco;
Abt Valentino Paganin or Valentino Paganini, I believe that in abt Asiago civil records you can find his Birth act and maybe are the marriage note at the bottom as a well the death note...
best regards,
suanj
