Pesce/Ciccotelli

Postby danezeeox » 21 Jun 2005, 01:27

Hey --

My name is Dana Giacobello, I'm a student researching my Italian ancestry. I was wondering if anyone had, or wanted to find information on:

Maria (also Mary) Ciccotelli (Ciccotelli is her maiden name, Pesce is her married name.) She was born in Chiete, Italy and married:

Raffaele Pesce. He made three trips between Italy and America.

I am looking for any information you can find on these two people, in particular, I'm looking for marriage records, and a passenger list for the Taormina, departing from Naples and arriving in America in September of 1921.

I would really appreciate any replies, or any helpful tips you might have. I have just started my search.

Thanks again!

--Dana

Hi Dana,

There is an Ellis Island record for a Raffelle Pesce that came to the U.S, in 1921 on the Taormina. His residence at that time was Pine Grove, Pa. If you look through the other records for Raffelle Pesce, you may also find information on his 2 previous trips. http://www.ellisisland.org

Hi Dana,

To research in Italy you must know the town the event occured in. All records are kept by town or comune. I tried to find the town Chiete, but had no success. It was not found in the location database on this site nor was it found on map quest.

This is the manifest for Raffelle Pesce (found by Goldhunter) traveling with his wife. If this is your ancester the manifest gives the date and place of naturalizaiton.

For what it's worth, there are currently both Ciccotelli and Pesce families living in Chieti, Abruzzo.

Pesce is a common name throughout Italy, but Ciccotelli seems to be primarily Abruzzese.

Also, this Raffaele Pesce (age 40) was traveling with his wife Maria Giuseppa (age 22).

Hi Dana,

If your ancestor came from the town of Chieti (as opposed to the province) here are the civil records available from the LDS:

Here is a post by Trish on how to use the records:

Dana,

Are your Pesce related to Vigliotti from Santa Maria A Vico North of Naples? My Great Grandfather's mother was a Vincenza Pesce married to a Michele Vigliotti. They had five children, three of which remained in Italia until death. My Great Grandfather Clemente and his brother Michele came to NY and died in 1967 and 1969 respectively. Does any of this connect with your research?
Matt
