Francesco Lorusso Military records

Postby rp76226 » 27 Sep 2014, 04:49

The known history of my grandfather (Evangelista Lorusso) and his 3 brothers are listed below. His brother Francesco was the second oldest male child, but I only found out that he existed just a little while ago. The other brothers all served in the military for Italy during WW1 and I have their military records in great detail (yet cannot remember how I got them - probably someone on this site). It would seem that Francesco Lorusso was the right age to also have been drafted into the Italian military. Can anyone utilize the information below to find out if he did? Of course, if you also find about whether any of these brothers had children, that would be an added plus.

My grandfather, Evangelista Lorusso, (born in 1900) who emigrated to America, was the youngest of 4 brothers born in Altamura, Bari, Italy. The brothers lived and died in Italy. I would like to find their children and grandchildren:
1. The oldest was Domenico Lorusso, born August 10, 1886, wounded in WW1, and married to Anna Nuzzolese on September 14, 1912. Later married to Laura Maglionico on December 29, 1928.
2. Next was Francesco Lorusso, born on May 22,1891 and married to Grazia Clemente on October 7, 1916.
3. Last was Vito Lorusso, born on May 10, 1895, also wounded in WW1, married to Antonia Ostuni on March 26, 1918. He died on April 17, 1969 in Altamura.
Their parents were Michele Lorusso (1858-1905) and Teresa Ninivaggi (1858-1920) who married on October 11, 1884. They also had two daughters who died as young children.

Why don'tg you write to Alatmura and request their individual CERTIFICATO DI STATO DI FAMIGLIA based upon ach brothers individual names...or do it the old fashioned way. Just send potential relative letters to everyone with the surnames of interest to you at http://www.paginebianche.it
There are 10 Lo Russo listed in Altamura and the potential relative letter is probably known to you. If not http://www.initaly.com/gene/mem/letter1.htm

I have written them multiple times in Italian. Altamura never responds.

did you send e-mail to their Stato Civile office at statocivile@cert.comune.altamura.ba/it

Make your request using the form letter at http://www.circolocalabrese.org (select genealogy) for form letter and include a return addressed envelope and see what occurs? Peter

This is a certified email address (PEC) and cannot reached unless you have a PEC address yourself.

What is a PRC address? Probably means that I don't have one.

PEC = Posta Elettronica Cerificata = Certified Electronic Mail (e-mail).

I doubt you have one...

Peter, per Livio, since I do not have a certified PEC email address nor know how to get one, it would seem that I cannot successfully write to Altamura using the email address that you gave me. Also, on your other suggestion to write to Lorusso names now living in Altamura - there are almost 400 of them! In the past, I have written to some Altamura FB Lorusso names, but found nothing.

There are only 10 Lo Russo listed in the http://www.paginebianche.it with addresses. They may have knowledge about your family. http://www.initaly.com/gene/mem/letter1.htm

I was unaware that the cert. is the same as pec so that it should have been written by snail mail. Thanks for letting me know. If any of the 10 persons listed in the paginebianche have a familiar first name in your family then perhaps that would be the first letter to send but all others should also be sent with one letter which you can make copies and send the same letter to everyone. I know but I always feel whenever there might be an error (in this case spelling) it is always best to go where it's easiest Lo Russo at 10 rather than Lorusso at 400. Hey ! you never know. Peter
