Hey I have done some family research and can only trace this side of my family back so far.
I am looking for the birth record of Angelo Cubito from Castiglione di Sicilia, Catania born 1871 presumably. He was married to Carmela Chiazzitta, I can not find any records from Catania on her(outside her children's birth certificates).
He migrated to America in 1906 and I found his name on the Ellis Island passenger list on the Napolitan Prince to state that he was 34 when he landed. His fathers name was presumably Antonino, as was his eldest son born 1904 which I have the birth certificate. The rumours are he died after arriving in New York before he could bring his wife and children over, but I can not find any records of his death or name after Ellis Island.
HI
Are sure of Angelo Cubito wifes surname on this birth record of Grazia Cubito daughter of Angelo it says her name is Carmela Piazzitta

Yes good find. I was also told that her name may be under Piazzitta but it slipped my mind, that is definitely her. On Antoninos birth certificate it appears as 'Chiazzitta' so I used that. Although even with that version of the name I can not find any other records about her.
Although I'm still puzzled I can't find any records(outside the Ellis Island manifest) about Angelo Cubito either birth certificate in Italy or Death certificate in the US.

Wow really good work. This is a break through for me I never knew this.
At this time they were supposed to have lived in malpasso now modernly known as Verzella, where the closest commune was Castiglione. I believe he migrated with another younger brother. Apparently he had sent for them to come to the US but a telegram arrived notifying her that he had died, so her and the children remained in Sicily, I know of all of my ancestry up until this point. The passenger list states where he first lived when he left the port but I can not any other trace of him after that.
Thank you so much for your help, deeply appreciated.

Birth of Maria Cubito
INDEX#129
1900 May 7th in the town of Castiglione di Sicilia birth of Maria Cubito daughter of Angelo Cubito and Carmela Piazzitta side says married 12/16/1920 in Castiglione di Sicilia to Filippo Bartolillo
I believe they were his two sisters( they had more children but died when they were young). How would I find Angelos death certificate? He lived in New York City while he was there. Also how would I go about finding more details on Angelos parents?
You could check the death records (morti) of Castiglione di Sicilia they might have recorded his death back in Italy if the family stayed behind maybe try 1906-1907 check Part II in the year you are searching that's where they would register it if he died overseas

Well the rumours are he drowned in USA ( even though it was said he was one of the few that could swim) so I'm not sure if it's recorded, I will have a check and let you know
After looking at the church marriage record of Maria Cubito daughter of Angelo Cubito (5/4/1899)her husband name is Filippo Barbagallo(11/8/1897) and her mother name is spelled Carmela Chiazzitta/Piazzitta so I don't know what to say about her name being spelled different in the records
Yeah at some point the name changed, I'm not sure for what reason, perhaps her husbands passing? Although it is spelt with 'Ch' on Antoninos birth certificate aswell, so it can't be. I'm not sure it looks like any records of her before that would be under Piazzitta though, using that surname tool from family search that name is located in Messina, where her family was supposed to be originally from. Do any of those documents say how old Angelo Cubito and Maria Laguzza or the Piazzitta side were when their children married? Would be interesting to see where they were born.
Marriage publication(banns before they were married) of Angelo Cubito and Carmela Piazzitta 1897
It says Antonino Cubito was 56 years old (abt 1841) and Salvadore Piazzitta was 57 (abt 1840) at the time of this record being recorded

Thanks a lot Marty, deeply appreciated.
I noticed family search does not have online entries around 1841 for Linguaglossa or Castiglione. What would be the next best step to finding these records? Should I send a request to the commune for the documents?
I would contact your Local Family History Library and rent the microfilm records Registri dello stato civile di Linguaglossa (Catania), 1820-1929 or Castiglione di Sicilia (Catania). Ufficio dello stato civile view and copy them there.
The name Italia, probably a Graecized form of Italic Vitelia (='calf land'), was originally restricted to the southern half of the 'toe' but was gradually extended. By 450 B.C. It meant the region subsequently inhabited by the Bruttii; by 400 it embraced Lucania as well. Campania was included after ...
