Who are Padre Alfonso Puma's Parents

Postby rp76226 » 05 Oct 2014, 17:58

There are several Google articles on Padre Alfonso Puma (November 21, 1926 - January 2, 2008) who was a parish priest in Racalmuto, Sicily for over 50 years. None mention his parents names except for one that only mentions that his mother was a Morreale (no first name, nor father's name given). I have been told however that one of his brothers was Salvatore Puma (May 6, 1920 to April 15, 2007) who was an opera tenor who sang in Italy and several other nations. I have two documents on him confirming that his parents were Calogero Pagliarello Puma and Maria Carmela Palermo and I also have the 1919 marriage record of those parents. That leaves a contradiction on these brothers' mothers - Palermo versus Morreale. Perhaps, the first mother died and the father remarried before they had Padre Puma. Or perhaps the opera singer and priest aren't really brothers. I would welcome your help in sorting out this mystery.

The church of Maria SS Annunziata in Agrigento should have Father's Puma personnel file (medical records perhaps) since this church is indicated as being the depository for oldest records for the diocese of Agrigento. Peter

Peter, the first link gave me an error message. The second link only gives me Giglia names and do not relate to any Puma family members.

Not me.....I just typed in Giglia which jumped web site listing 67 and voila! if you click on #5 #6 and #7 and read the fine print below each NUMERAL INPUT, it answers your inquiries concerning the JOSEPHINE Morreale first name, the previous spouse's name IRENE and the childrens names. Peter

Peter, and none of them are Puma. If this information does not link to a Puma bloodline that produces Padre Alfonso Puma, then it is meaningless to me.

You mean the Josephine Morreale does not relate to the Puma family despite the connection to Racalmuto, Sicily, a previous marriage and the names of children......I guess I am in the right church (Giglia) and wrong pew (Morreale). Sorry about that.... Peter

Peter, in the future, please ignore my posts. Tired of your wild goose chases.
