Salomone

Postby phines » 06 Nov 2014, 18:32

You have helped greatly in the past so I am reaching out again.

Filomena Salomone was the sister of my great-grandmother, Angela Salomone. Filomena traveled to America from Italy possibly on several trips with several children, including Vito and Giorgio. Her husband possibly was Vito Cotone, also from Italy. I think they lived in San Michele di Serino.
Her parents were Pelligrino Salomone and Carmela Renzulli.

I am looking for any information you can provide, especially birth or marriage records. And possibly how many children Filomena and Vito had.

Whatever help you can give me is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, Filomena was my great aunt, I think. Can you find out when Vito came to America? And their marriage record?

I have added the address of the town for you and help with letters of request.

I do not believe there are records ONLINE for S. Michele di Serino.
There ARE microfilmed records that you can order and view at your nearest LDS Family History Center. The films cover the years 1809-1899, so you would probably find the births (nati) and marriage (matrimoni) in those filmshttps://familysearch.org/search/ca ... %20Library

I will search for the arrival of Vito Cotone. Birthdate about 1863?

EDIT TO ADD:

I located a ship manifest for a Vito Cotone, age 35 (in 1898) from S. Michele di Serino
Appears to be traveling with one Ettore Cotone, age 23.
Vito indicates that he was in USA from 1890-1897 (6 years is written over those dates) in New York. That would put this Vito in USA at the time of Filomena's arrival above.
On this manifest, Vito is going to his brother Michele in New York.
Have not yet found a manifest with a date earlier than 1898.
