Adele Santoro

Postby Jean Galata » 13 Nov 2014, 04:19

Does anyone have any information on an Adele or Adelina Santoro? I met her in Rovigo in the 1960's. I believe she died either in the late 1960's or the 1970's. She was my grandfather's sister and I can't find any information on her. I know she was born in Collepietro, L'Aquila, Italy, on July 24, 1881. I cannot find any marriage records for her. I know she was living in Collepietro in the early 1930's and I believe she was a widow then. When I met her she was living with her daughter, Antoinette Moretti and her family in Rovigo, Italy. I have lost contact with the family after my mother died and can find no information about Adele or any of her descendants to complete my maternal grandfather's branch of my family tree.
Thank you for any information you can provide.

You need to write to the Comune of Collepietro for her birth record. It will tell you when she died and who she married (if anyone). From her husbands surname you can then try tracing her children.

Civil records for Collepietro are online at https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... %20Library

Looks like a nice clean set of records....you may find many records of your Grandfathers family there.

The birth is registered in the 1881 birth archives, but there are no notations in the margin indicating a marriage or death. Family Search.org shows no records for her.

If there are marginal notes, they could appear in the register that is stored in the archive of the town, while not being present in the register that was filmed by FamilySearch.

Remember that the civil records were made in 2 counterparts.......one was kept by the comune, and updated as life events occured, and the second counterpart was sent to the Tribunale, which was the register that LDS microfilmed.

You will have to request either an "estratto per riassunto" that includes any annotations, or a "copia integrale" from the stato civile office of the comune of Collepietro.

You could try a request by email first. This is a very small comune, but it might be worth a try, you do after all have the precise date of birth of the record that you are interested in.
