Death Records Missing

Postby rp76226 » 26 Nov 2014, 03:17

For Petralia Soprano (Palermo, Sicily), the digital death records from 1865 to 1883 are missing (at least from Familysearch.org's site). Not sure if they are in the film library because the website has changed and I can't figure out how to see a list of films available for a town. I am trying to find the death records of Francesco Cerami (born about 1812) and his wife Giuseppa LaBarbera (born about 1833). Their children were born in Petralia Soprano. Both were deceased when their child, Leonardo Cerami married Gaetana Ilardi on June 28, 1882 in Cerda. So they may have moved to Cerda and died there, but I checked all the Cerda death records from 1859 when the son was born to 1882 when he married and could not find them. Therefore, I think it is likely that they died in Petralia Soprano.

This is a list of the microfilms that the LDS church has for Petralia Soprana:

It was very easy to find - just go to Search and then Catalog on their website. Note that the name of the comune ends in an "a," not an "o."

If you're looking for death records between 1865 and 883 then they should be on this roll:
Morti 1864-1885 -- Indice decennale dei morti 1885-1896 -- Morti 1886-1910 -- Atti di cittadinanza 1866-1884 -- Indice decennale degli atti di cittadinanza 1885-1896 -- Atti di cittadinanza 1888-1909 -- Pubblicazioni di matrimonio 1862-1865 -- Atti diversi 1862-1865.

Actually, they made a mistake when creating the link to the online images for deaths from 1864 to 1885. They wrote "1884-1885" when they meant "1864-1885." The records you want are online - they are not missing.
