Marriage cert.

Postby PMM » 22 Dec 2014, 21:15

Hi
I recently received a copy of my great uncle'Annapollinaro Motta's marriage cert and I have a question. He was married in Manhattan, NY in 1910 to Natalina( Maria) Beccaris. On the bottom of the cert. there are 2 witnesses signatures Giovanni Motta and Luigia Motta. Are the witnesses usually members of the wedding party( they were married in a a church)or friends, relatives? I'm curious to know who the witnesses are and if they are related to my guncle( I've never heard the names before). Also, was it common back then for the brides to be to lie about their age?? I only ask this because the ages don't match up on some of the marriage certs. I have. Thanks again for your help 8)

You can try taking a photo of it. Save the photo as a .jpg image to your computer.
Use an image-sharing site such as www.postimage.org to upload, and copy and paste the URL for the image to your thread here.
