Maria La Casasanta, Fasciano, or Vicottilli?

Postby Robin B Mc » 15 Feb 2015, 03:48

I have found several records which alternately list this woman named as: Maria Casasanta Fasciano, Maria La Casa Santa Vicottilli, and just Maria La Casasanta. (Also one seems to have another name or word in between Casa Santa and Fasciano that I can't make out). I'm sure they are all referring to the same person because of her husband's name and their ages, but why the different names? Which one is correct?

How sure are you that Liborio is in your family line? Sometimes if there are numerous Maria Fasciano's in the same town they would add a double name to clarify which one was which. Do you have other siblings marriage records?

I am certain Liborio is in my tree - he is the father of my 2nd great grandfather, Agostino D'Amore. Liborio is named on Agostino's birth and marriage records as his father.

Here's Agostino's birth record in Sulmona: http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0

I've also attached Agostino's marriage record from Pachino.

Once I found the birth and marriage records for Liborio and both of them said his mother was Maria Casasanta Fasciano, I assumed that was her name - but then I found a few of Liborio's siblings and there were inconsistencies. I considered that maybe Amadio had more than one wife (ie, one died and he remarried) but then found the 1810 record saying Fasciano/Fasciani again and the Casasanta name is consistent on all of them.

I haven't found the marriage records for the other siblings yet though.

I just had a more thorough look over the matrimoni, processetti records for Liborio's marriage and it looks like la Casasanta Fasciano is consistent. So I'm guessing Vicottilli may have been an error? It only appears on one record. I will start looking for the marriages of Liborio's siblings though, that might tell me more. Thanks for all your help!
