HELP: Looking for James/Giacomo DeLuca

My mother is the daughter of a James or Giacomo Deluca. She was born in 1949 in Ohio. Her father signed the birth certificate "James DeLuca". Within a few months of her birth he and my grandmother split. My grandmother kept all records of him until my mother asked about her dad. Who then burned them.

My mother has never seen a picture of her father. Nor met anyone from her family. I am now a grown adult and am looking to fill in the blanks on who I am and where my people come from. I married into a large Italian family and anytime I'm asked about my super dark skinned mother or my Italian features I have no answer.

I have no date of birth for James.

Here is what I know.

My mother was born in Oct. 1949. Which means James would have been in the Canton Ohio area around January of 1949. He would have been around his mid 20's to early 30's.
He was from the New York/New Jersey area. The last attempt anyone had of looking for him placed him in PA I believe.

If anyone could help with info or even how to find info I'd greatly appreciate it.

I know DeLuca is a common name and I don't have much to go.

My grandmother's name was Lyda.

Just an "FYI" -

If he signed the birth certificate as James, then it is possible that his given name was VINCENZO. James is the Americanized version of Vincenzo ...

Is there an age given for the father (James Deluca) on the birth record?
