Family legend DiGiuseppe

Postby Joannsalvo » 22 Jun 2015, 22:46

Hello,
I am trying to find the police report or trial records or newspapers for the following:

Sabatino DiGiuseppe (born April 15, 1849 in Campli) and Beatrice Bianchi (born June 23, 1853 in Teramo) were married in Campli in 1878. Beatrice was an orphan/foundling.
They apparenly owned a large farm outside of Rome. The town could be Morge, Campli but I am not sure.
Legend goes, they were poisoned by the travel agent when they were to come over to the USA.
They kept their money in two big trunks and the travel agent killed them and took the money.
Their only child, a daughter, Annunziata (Anna) DiGiuseppe born 24 March 1884 in Campli, She married Guido Gargani in Campli in 1902. Shewent back to Italy to press charges and the travel agent was put in jail but the money was never found.
I found a ship manifest for Annunziata Gargani coming back to the USA from Italy through New York, she arrived back September 12, 1927 with a relative. So maybe they died around this time?! I am trying to confirm the story to see if it is true or not.
Where should I start looking?
Many thanks,
Joann

The only way you can really prove it true is compare the immigration dates and records. On Anna's parents immigration papers, does it mark an "X" for their destination. That could signify they died on route to America. That alone could prove the story true.

As far as I know, they did not immigrate to the USA at all.
