Second marriages in Sicily.

Will a marriage document indicate on the form if it is a second marriage? Thank you.

Checked the written part of the marriage act or marriage publication it will usually say

I assume we're talking about records from more than a few decades ago. It used to be in Italy that the only way to have a second marriage was if your first spouse died. Marriage acts and banns often, but not always, indicated whether someone was a widow, although they didn't always give the name of the previous spouse. If the person had never previously married then you usually (but not necessarily) would see a word such as celibe or nubile, or celibi covering both the bride and groom.
