Can't find record listed on the Morti Index

Postby rp76226 » 15 Aug 2015, 23:30

First, please look at record number 186 for the year 1812 for the comune of Altamura on this link:

http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... ewsIndex=0

It is reporting the death of Francesco Tafuno on what appears to be 24 March 1812. Number 186 is meaningless - it does not refer to a death record number, it's just the numerical order in which they recorded these dates (in alphabetical order by first name instead of last name). It appears that you have to find this record by its death date. I tried, but cannot find it. Here's the link to all the death records for Altamura in the year 1812:

For these records, you pretty much have to look at the month and day which appears in the index and search for the record that way.

You had the CORRECT idea, but the wrong month. :)
Date of death was 24 May, not March.

And erudita has provided the link above.
