I just read about foundlings, The story goes is that his father died in war, and his mother commited suicide by jumping from a balcony and he was taken in my the Geloso family but my domecia's uncle Francesco and his wife Nicolina ruggerio. They took him to the US. Then again this is a story handed down. So does this document stated a Mother? or how old he was when he entered the Orpahnage? we were told he was like 6 or 7?

Callisto was a foundling and put in the foundling wheel ( in old past the foundling was put here http://www.corrierepl.it/cpl/wp-content ... -ruota.jpg in the night, so nobody saw) the wheel was in 5 Concordia st in Isnello, and "wheeler" stated that the child had just some hour of age, at 5:15 AM, when was put in, and it was wrapped in a canvas cloth. The registrar given the name at child ( Callisto Giuseppe Cerro) and with a copy of the Birth act , given order to wheeler ( Lucia Campisi) to bring the child to Palermo orphanage, and with kit baby buyed by Commune.

Sometimes, the biological mother claim the child to raise it, without declare to be the biological mother, and in these cases, the name of woman appearing on the Birth act as nurse, but anyone knew that she was the true mother, and the Commune given money to raise the child.... .. For Callisto no one woman claimed.. and was sent in orphanage... maybe after some year was sent in Geloso family... but nothing is wrote abt that, just is wrote that married at Domenica Geloso.. and that is all... I know well that the foundlings lied abt their origin because painful, and that is comprensible... but by Birth act Callisto was a foundling and I am pretty sure that so was also in marriage act and marriage bann.. no doubt....
hoping helpful my explanation,
best regards,
suanj
