Your \"heritage\" as you put it may involve persons, living and/or deceased, documents like birth and marrriage certificates which require full names and dates of birth or year of birth and place of birth. Records in Italy require the town of birth and residence. Do yhou know their full names, year of birth and place of birth??? Lastly what do you want to find out SPECIFICALLY about your \"heritage\". Once you think about what you want then get back to me and then I can tell you where to go and obtain the information and what to ask for and what you have to request in the italian language as well as addresses. Please let me know. Peter
Tol start you off please go to www.ellisisland.org and look up the records of arrival of your great grandparents. That will give you their full names and place of birth and year of birth. The ships manifest will also give you vital information as to whom they were destined when they entered the USA as immigrants. Peter
I wrote to Asiago, Italy and asked for a marriage and birth certificates for my grandfather and greatgrandfater. It took about a month and I received both documents and a outline of my family going back to 1818. Like the previous two posts said, you need names and dates first.
