Hi everyone,

You are all brilliant! I cant believe you found all that! I, of course had no luck with the brother-in-law because I thought it said Domenico Gerna, instead of Perna. I wonder if Fontanarosa is near Castelli, I will look at that. Does that mean if Angelo Giancola is visiting his BIL, then Perna is Nunziata's maiden name, or wait a minute it could be Angelo's sister's husband. So confusing unless you write it all down. I guess the death certificates will tell me!

If Alessandro traveled with a Giancola then that would explain how he met Clara. Now to figure out which is the real last name also, Caresini, Corsini, Corsino?

I am really excited about all of this, I was ready to pack it in, not knowing what to do next, when as a last resort I left the message here, and voila.

I might try and look into finding Dom. Perna's ship record now. Did it say his immigration date?

Many thanks,

Karen

When requesting the death certificates and they ask for the city, do I put the city of last residence or the death place city?

I noticed through ancestry.com you can request certificates online, is that the same as writing to the Massachusetts vital records, I assume ancestry will forward this request to MA, and no mention of price yet, just want my CC #. MA wants $28 per copy if I write to them.

Thank-you,

Karen

edit: went to the final checkout and they want $47.50 to get it, so I will do it directly myself instead.

edit#2 since I had place of death for Alexander I called the town of Everett and they only wanted $5 for a copy of D.Cert.

How do I find out the place of death for Clara, I see it wasnt listed.
Angela and Dominic Colantuono?

Waiting for my mom to get back today from Foxwoods casino, she'll be excited!!

Hi Karen,

Trish posted this on "page 1" ...

Name: Clara Corsino
SSN: 034-14-4006
Last Residence: 02150 Chelsea, Suffolk, Massachusetts,
Born: 21 Nov 1888
Died: Nov 1967

I will see if there is a certificate # for her. I can also check to see if there is info for Angela and Dominic Colantuono.

Say hi to your Mom.

Maria

edit#1 re: SSDI...
The only thing I can add is...
State (Year) SSN issued: Massachusetts (Before 1951 )

HI,

Spoke to my mom, she was all happy that I had the information!
I had found both sides of my father's family from Russia, which I thought would be harder since first names werent even close on the manifests.

She confirmed Clara's brother's name was Nicholas, which would be Nicolino Giancola on the manifest. She said Clara died at home in Chelsea and she remembers meeting "white Nana" who was Nunziata Giancola who also lived in Chelsea. So I emailed the city clerk in Chelsea to see about getting the death certs.

She said the Colantuonos died in the North End of Boston at home so I will write to city of Boston for their certs.

I dont think the SS death index has the relatives that died a long time ago in the computerized database. I did notice you can get the SS application form copy from rootsweb with a $27 fee.

I hope this helps out others that are wondering what to do next too.
