Immigration Contradiction

According to my aunts, they were told by their parents that their parents first met on the ship that took them to America. However, according to their Ellis Island records, they arrived on different ships, though the ships arrived on the same day. I'm thinking that they instead met during processing through Ellis Island. However, that would imply that the people from those two different ships would be mixed together during processing and I'm wondering if that was possible. I'm also thinking that such a chance encounter would likely be too brief to spark a new romance. Here are their Ellis Island records for your review and comments:
