Hello, I'm new to this forum. I have just begun the journey. I'm starting with my Dad's family.
My grandfather, Gaetano Gatto, was from Bronte, Sicily. He arrived in the US May 1, 1909 (age 17) on the Italia sailing out of Palermo. He settled in Carbondale, PA. His parents were Nunzio Gatto and Nunzia Tireolesa. I beleive he had a brother named Salvatore who settled in Argentina, and a sister who remained in Sicily.
I'm afraid that's all the information I have, with the exception of the ship's manifest and US Census info I obtained online. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Patricia Gatto De Angelis
Hello - Searching for Gatto's
Re: Hello - Searching for Gatto's
Maybe you should consider researching records from your ancestral town since you've already researched census and ship records... plus you know who your great grandparents are...
Do you have all 3 census records?
There is a nice film collection available for the town of Bronte, Catania
Even Church records from 1582 to 1920... !!! Census and civil records are also available. Truly a nice collection here.
