This is the right place to start your genealogy search.
Hi! I've hit a brick wall in the research of my grandparents. I'm trying to locate their birth and marriage records so I can continue my search. Here is the information I have been able to obtain:
Giuseppe Buttafuoco - Born November 2, 1861 in Leonforte, Sicilia
He departed Palermo for New York arriving on February 23, 1906
His fathers name was Salvatore but I don't have a clue on his mothers name
Rocca (Rosa) Mascali - born August 29, 1876 in Mesfuia, Linguaglossa.
She departed Naples for New York arriving on January 23, 1908
Her fathers name was Concetto and I believe her mothers name was Antonina Pagano
Any database or place to write would be extremely helpful.
According to Ellis Island Foundation
Rocca Mascali, on Jan 23 1908, was 32yo, she was born in Linguaglossa (province Messina, now Catania), and was joining her husband Concetto Buttafuoco, in New York. She was the daughter of Concetto Mascali. She was travelling with 2 kids, Vincenza, female 5yo, and Salvatore, male 2yo. Last Place of residence was Militello (prov. Messina)
Thank you Livio. Do you know where I can write to get a birth record or maybe an online data base?
Her husband was Giuseppe, but in your reply you said Concetto. Is there a possible name change?
