Antonio Mariorenzi and family

Postby James Graham » 29 Apr 2016, 14:18

I am searching for the exact dates of birth and death for Antonio and his family.
The last name has variations. Mariorenzi, the true surname, Morenzi, Marenzi, Morenze, Masorgi, ect...

I believe I have him born 1895 in Italy and death 30 December 1980, Rhode Island, and his wife is buried with him. Her name is Josephine Zanghi, 1897-1995.

They have six children, Edward 1922-1927, Joseph approx.1922-?, Helen 1926-?, Edward 1928-?, Viola 1932-? and Antonio 1934-?. Maybe they are still living, which would be great, as I could make contact with them. (Actually I have tried a couple of Antonio's in the phone book with no avail). I have them in the 1930 and 1940 Census but I can't locate them in the RI State Census of 1935, which gives exact birth dates.

In the 40 Census, they are on Florida Ave., Cranston, RI. The 30 Census, they are on Queen St, Cranston, RI. Also a directory, listing an Antonio and Josephine Morenzi on Princess Ave in 1934.

Antonio's father is Giuseppe Mariorenzi, 1868-?. His death is somewhere between 1935 and 1940. I found his 1935 Census. His wife, Angelina Morenzi (Mariorenzi) is widowed in 1940 and living with her daughter, Anna Regine and husband, Vito.

Thanks

In addition, here is the information from the 1925 Rhode Island Census I posted above :-)

Anthony Morenzi
Rhode Island State Census, 1925
Name Anthony Morenzi
Event Place Cranston Ward 03, E.D. 102, Providence, Rhode Island (Queen St.)
Age 27
Birth Year (Estimated) 1898
Birthplace Italy
Relationship to Head of Household Son
Gender Male
Joseph Morenzi Father M 56y Italy
Angelena Morenzi Mother M 56y Italy
Anthony Morenzi M 27y Italy
James Morenzi Brother M 25y Italy
John Morenzi Brother M 21y Rhode Island
Anna Morenzi Sister F 17y Rhode Island
Josephine Morenzi F 27y Italy (his wife)
Also listed are his children:
Joseph - 3y 10m
Edward - 2y 2m

Since the 1925 Rhode Island Census was done in April 1925 -
That would son Edward born about July 1921, and son Joseph born about February 1923

HOWEVER***
It would appear that this Edward died sometime before 1930. In the 1930 US Census son Joseph (8) appears as the oldest child, then daughter Ellen (4), and then son Edward (age 2).
AND... there is also an Edward (18) listed as son of Joseph and Angelina... [family listed after Antonio's]

***********
I also located a WWI Alien Registration Card for Antonio -
It gives his birthdate as 22 December 1895, and his place of birth as "Monticello, Caserta" - which I believe is "Monticelli, Esperia, Frosinone" :-)

In a coincidence, the State Archives sent me his death certificate via email confirming the 6 March 1938.
It has his wife's surname as Grossi.
She arrived in the US in 26 September 1902, with Antonio and Vincenzo(James) - (both children are listed as Grossi but en route to their father Mariorenzi).

I located Antonio and Josephine in the 1935 State Census but none of their children are present in the listings.
