HELP!! WE ARE LEAVING FOR ITALY IN 2 WEEKS!

Postby paulafl34 » 15 Jun 2016, 18:44

I have been looking for my mothers ancestors in Lucca, specifically Camaiore and Pietra Santa, but I have had zero luck finding any living relatives. We were hoping to meet some family when we go to Lucca in a few weeks. At this point I will settle for finding the graves of her ancestors but I have no ide where to look and no time to contact any agencies in Italy.

I have gone back to work and I don't have anymore time to search. I feel so defeated. I am desperate. She is taking our whole family to Europe and I really wanted to be able to find her family. Is there a simple way to find out where any of these people are buried???

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP!!

Grandparents are
Giuseppe Moriconi born 1894 in Camaiore

They immigrated to the US in early 1900's but none of their siblings followed.

Zeffira had a sister Irma Moriconi who married Sergio Palagi in 1923, and a brother named Leonella Moriconi who married Fernanda Pardini in 1927.

It's unfortunate that you have run out of time in researching your family. However, some quick recommendations would be to print out the list of Moriconi, Palagi, etc. that are in the Italian White Pages directory on-line, and take it with you. Here is the web site. The surnames are still there.

Another recommendation would be to contact the Sindaco of each town, who may be able to assist you. Check out these web sites to get info on each town.

A third recommendation would be to try contacting possible relatives through Facebook. Put the surname in and the name of the town in the search, such as "Moriconi in Camaiore".

Good luck,
Bette

There are posts on my blog that will help. There is one on planning a visit to the town of origin. A couple on cemeteries (there is usually only one but the chances of finding graves is slim)
The ANAGRAFE office at the town hall is where you need to start, then the church.
