Looking for Tassone's from Monteleone

Postby ltossone » 26 Oct 2005, 19:14

I found the immigration record for Antonino Tassone coming over in 1905 on the Sicilian Prince. It indicates he lived in Monteleone and I am assuming it is referring to Villanova Monteleone in Sardegna. Antonino went back to Italy sometime around 1910, then his brother Pietro married my great grandmother, Martha Barnett in Westmoreland, PA. I am hoping that when Antonino went back he remarried or has children. His parents names were Rocco and Catherine. If anyone has any info please reply, I appreciate it!

I guess at this point you don't know whether he returned to the USA or remained in Italy?

could be also Vibo Valentia that in the past was named: Monteleone Calabro.. and in effect the Tassone surname is very very diffused in this area... just an bit!
further edit.... maybe Antonino's cousin's surname is a clue...

img441.imageshack.us/i...sin7lw.jpg
could be CUPOLILLO always present in same area...........

Antonino went back to Italy around 1910 and his brother, Pietro married his wife who stayed behind. Pietro was born in 1892 and I am unable to find an immigration record for him right now so I am unsure of when he actually arrived.

I am also not able to make out the last name of the cousin on the manifest from the Sicilian Prince and I do not know of any cousins or family that was here before the brothers.

I was able to find that his fathers name was Rocco ( we have lots of Rocco's in the family) and his mothers name was Catherine (no maiden name yet) and they never came over.

We are of a line of Tassone's that have curly hair. I have not seen any others with this feature and have met others from other lines.

Any other help anyone could offer would be great! Thanks... Lena
